Application of N-methylpyrrolidone(NMP) in coatings

1. Surface coating

NMP(N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone) is a non-corrosive, high-quality solvent, chemical and thermal resistance. Therefore, NMP improves the performance of many surface coating systems. In particular, these effects are conducive to drying coatings and curing at relatively high temperatures. NMP is suitable for the production of highly filled paint. Because it improves the rheological properties, the paint improves the fluidity and covering power. Therefore, the paint is more uniform, non-porous, no cracks, showing greater resistance and higher mechanical strength.
NMP is an excellent solvent for most coating materials, such as acrylate, epoxy resin, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride system, polyamide based on enamel wire, water-based paint and printing ink. NMP is a kind of butadiene propylene Nitrile polymer (nitrile rubber) is a very useful solvent for the inner lining of the container. The rubber mixed solution has better fluidity and levelness than those containing ketones. Vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-copolymer can be dissolved in the mixed solution of NMP and mononuclear aromatic hydrocarbons. It can be used for film injection molding. Under the action of two solvents, the mixed solution has a low viscosity and can be used at any time. The polyisocyanate containing imide group can be dissolved in the solvent of the NMP system. These solutions can be used for rubber compounds on metal surfaces.

2. Wire coating
In the manufacturing process of thermosetting insulating coatings, an important feature of NMP is that it has good solubility for polycarboxylic acids and their anhydrides, such as trimellitium, phthalic anhydride, amide polymers and high aromatic hydrocarbon content carboxyl groups. Therefore, it contains amides. The polyisocyanate is formed by the condensation reaction of the NMP mixed solution composed of polycarboxylic anhydride and monomer polyisocyanate. Copper conductors with flow coating of desiccant oil have outstanding mechanical and dielectric properties. From a technical point of view, NMP has advantages in the operation of two functions: as a reaction medium in the manufacturing process, the coating of the latter acts as a viscosity regulator. Copolyester resin NMP is a suitable solvent in the reaction of diimide and polyol. Therefore, the formed solvent can be dried to form a highly heat-resistant enamel
Porcelain wire. At the same time, NMP is also used as a solvent for polyamide/polyimide drying oils derived from condensed tricarboxylic acid aromatic and aliphatic diamines.
